Iberia reinforces its presence in Mexico with Volaris

Iberia joins forces with Volaris. Both companies have signed a broad codeshare agreement through which they will increase connectivity between Europe and Mexico. Thanks to this agreement, customers from Europe will be able to connect with 25 additional destinations within Mexico operated by Volaris, and vice versa, from these destinations they will be able to connect with Iberia flights between Mexico City and Madrid (Iberia reveals its plans with the A321XLR, the new Airbus jewel).

This greater connectivity will be complemented by the record capacity that Iberia has deployed “to create a bridge between Europe and Mexico,” he highlights. Specifically, it has three daily flights, making more than 772,000 seats available to its customers throughout the year, 17% more than in 2019.

In addition, it will operate the route between Spain and Mexico entirely with the A350, the largest aircraft in the fleet, with 348 seats distributed in the Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins.

The destinations included in this codeshare agreement are Acapulco, Cancún, Chetumal, Chihuaha, Ciudad Juárez, Cozumel, Culiacán, Guadalajara, Hermosillo, Huatulco, Ixtapa Zihuatañejo, La Paz, Los Mochis, Mazatlán, Mérida, Mexicali, Monterrey, Oaxaca, Puerto Vallarta, Puerto Escondido, San Juan del Cabo, Tapachula, Tijuana, Tuxla Gutiérrez and Villahermosa.

The alliance is still subject to approval by the authorities of Mexico and Spain. It is expected that codeshare flights between Iberia and Volaris may be available throughout July.
