Imserso: a group of retirees who were going to Benidorm are stranded in Santiago

New incident in one of the outings of the Imserso social tourism program. More than fifty pensioners who were prepared to travel to Benidorm had to spend a whole day at the Santiago airport after their flight with the charter company AlbaStar was delayed.

According to the Voice of Galicia, the retirees left from Ourense at 9 in the morning. They were scheduled to take off for Alicante at 1:00 p.m., but they were informed that the plane had broken down and they would have to wait an hour to board another plane that had to arrive from Italy.

At first, the deadlines were met. At 2:30 p.m. boarding began, but only a few minutes later it was interrupted, and they were forced to return to the terminal. Shortly afterward they were informed that they would not fly until 6 p.m.

“Neither forward nor backward, lying in the boarding tunnel, they treat us like sheep,” criticized one of the retirees. Then, after a moment of protests, they were given a 30-euro voucher so they could eat at the airport while the delay lasted. The information provided was minimal as a result of this.

There was no news until late afternoon, when they were informed that they would leave at 9:30 p.m. And at 21 they were already boarding a plane from which another group of travelers from Imserso had disembarked, which also arrived late. Overall, the aircraft did not take off until 10:00 p.m., which means they have lost an entire day of their trip. “At the earliest, we will not arrive in Benidorm before midnight.”
