Wizz Air breaks its record with 50 planes out of service

For many months, the main economic income for Wizz Air will come from GTF, the aircraft engine manufacturing consortium, producer of Pratt & Whitney that uses its fleet of Airbus 320 and 321. Because it has to compensate the airline for the damages it is causing (Ryanair hopes to deal a blow to Vueling, Easyjet and Wizz Air).

On May 17, the low cost company had no less than 47 aircraft on the ground, subject to inspection, equivalent to 94 engines. And it is not the highest number because during June he hopes to reach fifty. It must be taken into account that the airline has 215 aircraft available, in its four subsidiaries (the parent company, Hungarian; the English subsidiary, one from Malta and one from Abu Dhabi).

At the end of fiscal year 2023, which took place on March 31, 45 aircraft were on the ground, being inspected.

By far, Wizz Air is the most affected in Europe by the problem of the alloy of the metals that make up the supplied engines.

The company has admitted that it has received financial compensation from the manufacturer, which obviously helps explain why it has finally gotten out of the financial situation it was in.
