We stayed at the Metropole in Monte Carlo, the hotel favored by both Charlotte Casiraghi and Leonardo DiCaprio

The air in the Principality of Monaco is mild all year round, even on a winter weekend. Indeed, the winter atmosphere makes the world’s smallest country even more lively. Monte Carlo, its heart is secular, but also art galleries, a temple of international gastronomy, cliffs overlooking the sea, manicured gardens and a privileged vantage point for the international jet set. Starting with the charm of Grace Kelly, which can still be felt today and always will be in every corner of the principality.

We spent a weekend at the iconic Metropol Hotel (Belle Epoque jewel with 125 rooms and 64 suites) a stone’s throw from the casino, a few meters from the famous Place du Casino to try the new restaurant Les Ambassadeurs by Christophe Cusackrecently reopened after a two-year renovation.

The hotel, built in 1886 by the Monte-Carlo Hotel Company on land that belonged to Pope Leo XIII, combines all aspects of the Monegasque spirit: the Mediterranean influence and the style of the aristocratic palaces of the 19th century. The space was recently renovated by the French architect and interior designer Jacques Garcia, which redefines rooms by mixing classic elements, modern details and contemporary furnishings. As if that wasn’t enough, the hotel lobby also features a Picasso painting recently purchased by the property. And Charlotte Casiraghi he visits him, discreetly, whenever he can.

THE NEW RESTAURANT
The highlight of the hotel, in our opinion, is Christophe Cusack’s new Les Ambassadeurs restaurant. Christoph Cusack he inherited the legacy of the world’s most famous chef, Joël Robuchon, whose student he was. And even earlier in Cusack’s autobiography we find a kitchen shared with Jamin-Robuchon, before stopping at Troisgros in Roanne, and then at the Abbey of Saint Michel, at Tonnerre in Burgundy (two stars), at the Reserve de Beaulieu (two stars) to finally arrive at the Metropole (since 2004) together with Robuchon, retaining both stars.
