Dominican Republic signs 19 hotel projects for €3.2 billion in Fitur

Fitur 2024 has been the scene of the signing of more than 9,000 new rooms in twenty new hotel projects in the Dominican Republic, which will have an investment of 3.5 billion dollars (about 3.2 billion euros) and will be located in various areas of the country, as announced by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado.

“We have outlined a route to develop 19 new hotel projects over the next three years, which will mean 9,135 rooms, with an estimated investment of 3.5 billion dollars. Of these rooms, 2,048 are expected to be operating for the summer-winter period of this year and another 3,106 by 2025,” Collado stated.

The Minister of Tourism recalled that, within the framework of Fitur, important agreements have also been signed with airlines, travel agencies and tour operators in the region to improve connectivity, position the destination brand, and penetrate new segments. Specifically, there have been celebrations a total of 16 agreements, which include three airlines, 11 tour operators and two with travel agencies.

“The objective of these agreements, the minister explained, is attract 322,000 passengerswith a impact on foreign exchange of more than 280 million dollarsand that they suppose in a way direct and indirect more than 26,000 jobs“.

Collado has highlighted the importance of the agreements signed with Iberia, Air Europa, Edelwise, Avoris, Nautalia, Soltour, eDreams and Viajes el Corte Inglés, among others.

The Minister of Tourism has indicated that the 53% of the meetings were related to attracting investments and with travel agencies and tour operators.

“Today we conclude our commercial activity at the most important International Tourism Fair for the Dominican Republic, Fitur. We leave with enormous satisfaction, and a full and challenging work agenda,” concluded the Minister of Tourism.
