In Thailand, three Russians were injured in an accident in Khao Kitchakut National Park

In Thailand, a pickup truck carrying tourists overturned yesterday in Khao Kitchakut National Park: 9 people were injured and one died. Among victims – three Russians. As reported by Bangkok Biznews, the incident occurred when a group of pilgrims were returning from a ceremony to worship the footprint of Buddha on the sacred mountain.

The publication noted that one of our compatriots, 59-year-old Liliana, was taken unconscious to a hospital in Chanthaburi: she was prescribed a brain scan to make a diagnosis. 60-year-old Agiya and 54-year-old Almaz were also hospitalized with symptoms of dizziness and injuries to the arm and hip.

The national park in Chanthaburi province is open to tourists for a limited time in January – March. These days, many foreigners come there to take part in the night ceremony. From Pattaya to the reserve it is approximately 150 km. To get to the mountain, pilgrims are seated in small open cars. According to responses on social networks, overcoming an 8-kilometer steep slope is not a test for the faint of heart. It was on this road that at approximately 08:30 the driver lost control and the pickup truck actually crushed the passengers.

The Thai media did not specify whether Russians have insurance policies. In their absence, they can hope for help under the recently adopted program to reimburse the costs of medical care for foreign tourists in case of accidents and accidents.
