The cost of the trip almost doubled: the service demanded to pay extra for an already paid transfer

The GetTransfer service required the client to pay a 70% additional payment to the cost of the trip due to the replacement of the car due to the driver’s refusal. A travel agent informed the editors of TourDom.ru about this.

At the end of January, Sergey ordered a transfer for his client for February dates along the route Gorno-Altaisk Airport – Belokurikha and back. The tourist paid 7,902 rubles for transportation.

Literally 3 days later, the service manager unexpectedly announced that the carrier assigned to the transfer would not be able to fulfill it: “This behavior of the driver is unacceptable, and we will take serious measures against him. We can offer you another car, but the price will be higher.” For this second option, the company demanded that the travel agent pay an additional 5,262 rubles, i.e., about 70% of the amount already paid. As an alternative, she offered only a refund.

Meanwhile, according to the travel agent, the maximum cost of a taxi on this route is 7,000 rubles. round trip. He explained why he cannot use the services of taxi services for his clients: “The fact is that my tourists are demanding in terms of transportation. And Yandex only has an “economy” tariff available in this region. This means that the Lada-2101 from 1975 may also arrive.”

“This is the first time we have had difficulties with the booking service, although we have been using its services since 2019,” notes Sergey.

According to Article 782 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, the contractor has the right to refuse the contract by compensating the customer for losses, explained Maria Chapikovskaya, a lawyer for the Pink Elephant travel agency network, to the editors of TourDom.ru. “In this case, the company provides a choice – change the terms of the contract on such and such terms or make a return. I don’t see any tools to force the contractor to provide services for the initially agreed amount.”

However, the GetTransfer service, although not immediately, met the customers halfway. When the information was already published in the telegram channel “Roof of TourDom”, the travel agent reported that the company offered him the option of transportation without additional payment. “We have already sent a voucher with the driver’s contacts.
