The Federation Council is preparing to develop river tourism in the country

The Federation Council will soon prepare proposals for the government on the development of river tourism in Russia. About it stated Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Inna Svyatenko.

According to her, the senators plan to provide additional state support for the creation of new and modernization of existing infrastructure facilities for river transport, waterways and ports. Money for these purposes is supposed to be allocated to individual regions.

The vice speaker noted that there are currently 84 ports in Russia. At the same time, about 250 structures in them are on the balance sheet of the state, but half of these facilities are not operational or abandoned. We are talking about both individual berths and entire river stations.

Meanwhile, just last year, the number of Russians who chose river tourism increased by 20% by 2022 and amounted to 9.5 million people. So this type of tourism industry should be given more attention.

At the same time, Russia already has positive examples of river infrastructure development. In particular, last year in Mari El, where there was not a single mooring wall along more than 70 km along the Volga, the first one was organized in Kozmodemyansk. Thanks to this, the city was able to be included in the routes of cruises along the waterway.

Moscow also demonstrates a good example of the development of transportation. The water buses launched in the capital have become not only convenient urban transport for local residents, but also points of attraction for tourists.
