Tourists began to more often choose 4-5* hotels for their holidays in Crimea

Russian tourists often come up with the idea of vacationing in Crimea. How reported Head of the Republic Sergei Aksenov, the active booking period is 120 days, and volumes have increased by 50% compared to June – August last year. “Tourists are actively booking hotels with well-developed resort infrastructure, suitable for family holidays, and sanatoriums with a wide range of treatment programs,” said Sergei Aksenov.

The fact that demand has picked up is confirmed by hoteliers. “The depth and pace of bookings actually increased at the beginning of the year by an average of 35-40% compared to last season. But gradually the pace of sales is decreasing, and growth has slowed to 25–30%,” Nelly Shatova, general director of the hotel operator UK Vizant Group, told TourDom.ru. According to her, the positive dynamics this season were influenced by several factors: an increase in the depth of sales of railway tickets to Crimea from 45 to 90 days (a year ago the order period was shortened due to repair work at the Central railway junction), lower prices for accommodation, than in the resorts of the Krasnodar region, congestion in Krasnodar resorts. Another reason, as Nelly Shatova noted, is “more stability than last year”: “People are not afraid to plan.”

According to the chairman of the interregional public organization “Association of Small Hotels of Crimea and Sevastopol” Natalia Stambulnikova, the demand for four- and five-star hotels has especially increased – there are few of them on the peninsula, and competition between them is high. “We will sum up the results of the season at the end of September, but now we can say that tourist activity has really increased, mainly in relation to “star” objects. There is no particular surge in small guest houses, but the volume of bookings is also slowly growing,” said Natalia Stambulnikova. She noted that demand is uneven: on the southern coast of Crimea it is traditionally higher than in the west and eastern part of the peninsula.

Let us add that during the May holidays, Crimea, according to Sergei Aksenov, was visited by 266.7 thousand tourists – 12% more than in the same period last year. Tourists were received by about 350 accommodation facilities, the average occupancy exceeded 50%, and large resort complexes with developed infrastructure were occupied up to 100%.
