Tourists cannot fly to Mauritius for a day due to a storm on the island

The departure of the Aeroflot plane from Moscow to Mauritius has been delayed for almost a day. The reason is Cyclone Eleanor, which is raging in the country. Accordingly, the return flight from the resort is also postponed. This was reported to the editors of TourDom.ru by a travel agent whose tourists were forced to stay on the island.

According to Sheremetyevo Airport, Boeing 777-300ER (flight SU 246) was supposed to depart for Port Louis on February 21 at 20:50, but now the departure time on the online board is 19:00 on February 22.

The flight along the route takes about 11 hours, so the plane will leave Moscow at 19:00, landing in Mauritius at approximately 7 am local time (6 o’clock Moscow time).

Aeroflot has already rescheduled departure times from the resort twice. First, I moved it to 01:25, flightradar24 data shows this. At 10 am, vacationers received new information from the airline: “The departure time of SU 247 on February 22 has been changed. The new departure time is February 23, 08:50.” According to the travel agent, tourists remained to rest in their hotels.

Sheremetyevo’s online scoreboard indicates that SU 247 is expected to arrive in Moscow at 19:19 on February 23 instead of 21:40 on February 22 according to the schedule, so the estimated delay will be about 22 hours.

It is still unclear whether the further flight schedule on the route will be adjusted. Aeroflot’s next flight from Moscow to Mauritius is scheduled for tomorrow at 20:50.

Cyclone Eleanor hit Mauritius on February 21. According to meteorologists, the wind will increase today and reach 120 km/h. The authorities have sounded the alarm: a crisis headquarters has been created and airlines are revising their schedules. People try not to leave home unless necessary.
